Address: Dargaičiai Village, Gruzdžiai Eldership, Šiauliai District (about 25 km away from Šiauliai).

Below is a list of five possible tour options:

  • Option 1 (2 hrs)
    • Introductory tour of village
    • Tasting ancient dishes (beetroot soup “borscht”)
    • Souvenir with a rural scene
  • Option 2 (2.5 hrs)
    • Introductory tour of village
    • Educational programme: baking rolls in a rustic oven, tea
    • Souvenir with a rural scene
  • Option 3 (2.5 hrs)
    • Introductory tour of village
    • Educational programme: puppet making following ancient ways, shadow art
    • Souvenir with a rural scene
  • Option 4 (2.5 hrs)
    • Introductory tour of village
    • Educational programme: modeling clay ocarinas, painting clay pots
    • Souvenir with a rural scene
  • Option 5 (concerted number of hours)
    • Ham baked in a rustic oven (about 10 kg) served with sauerkraut and potatoes. Shall be ordered with/without Options 3 & 4 no later than 7 days in advance.

Traditional Festivals of Dargaičiai Village:

  • St. George’s Day
    Celebration takes place the first weekend following 23 April, usually in one of homesteads where the first grazing rites are conducted.
  • Traditional Old Time Craft Festival
    Celebration takes place the first weekend in August (usually Sunday). Folk artists and craftsmen are invited. Crafts are demonstrated at the Festival. Guests can try and make their own article.

    Both festivals are free to the public.
