Naisiai Žemaitukas Horse Stud

Samogitian horses are one of the oldest breeds in Lithuania and Europe. Known since the 6th–8th centuries and especially famous in Lithuanian battles with the Crusaders. These are horses with a fighting spirit, unique in their history, genetics, endurance, universal working ability, and extraordinary Samogitian character. These horses are reflections of our, Lithuanian, historical nature.

The height of the Žemaitukai is small, reaching 128–142 cm, weighing only 350–420 kg, but they are extremely energetic and strong. The breed was threatened with extinction four times, but was restored. It is currently protected internationally, included in the World Agricultural Animal Diversity Data Bank.

The Samogitian stud farm in Naisiai, founded in 2004, is the largest private stud farm participating in the program for the preservation of rare and endangered breeds. In 2008, it was granted the status of a category B stud farm, and in 2010 it was recognized as the most advanced gene pool farm in Lithuania. The modern, contemporary Naisiai stud farm has created excellent conditions for horses, employees, and every visitor, client, student, tourist and guest of the stud farm. The Samogitian stud farm in Naisiai participates and wins in republican show jumping and level racing competitions, and is prepared for various shows, photo shoots, and training of children and adults.
